Cognate with Bulgarian обзо́р (obzór, inspection, review), Serbo-Croatian о̀бзор (horizon), Slovene obzȍr (review, horizon) (tonal orthography) (genitive obzóra (tonal orthography)), Czech obzor (horizon; review), Slovak obzor (horizon), Slovincian u̯óbzȯr (horizon), Ukrainian обзі́р (obzír, review (military)). Synchronically derivable from обозре́ть (obozrétʹ), with typical Indo-European nominal o-vocalism (compare набо́р (nabór) and набра́ть (nabrátʹ), the latter with future tense наберу́ (naberú) etc. showing typical Indo-European present/future verbal e-vocalism).
