обзор
Russian
Etymology
From Proto-Slavic *obzorъ. Cognate with Bulgarian обзо́р (obzór, “inspection, review”), Serbo-Croatian о̀бзор (“horizon”), Slovene obzȍr (“review, horizon”) (tonal orthography) (genitive obzóra (tonal orthography)), Czech obzor (“horizon; review”), Slovak obzor (“horizon”), Slovincian u̯óbzȯr (“horizon”), Ukrainian обзі́р (obzír, “review (military)”). Synchronically derivable from обозре́ть (obozrétʹ), with typical Indo-European nominal o-vocalism (compare набо́р (nabór) and набра́ть (nabrátʹ), the latter with future tense наберу́ (naberú) etc. showing typical Indo-European present/future verbal e-vocalism).
