From *qapqa (“gate”), from Proto-Turkic *kap- (“to close”).
Immediately cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (qapγa, “gate”); Tatar капка (qapka), Kazakh қақпа (qaqpa), Kyrgyz капка (kapka), Uyghur қапқа (qapqa, “gate”), etc.
