Etymology

A Southwestern Iranian borrowing, from the family of Old Persian 𐎠𐎼𐎫𐎧𐏁𐏂𐎠 (Artaxšaçā). According to Ačaṙean, the immediate source of the Armenian is the unattested form *Artašas.
