Խօզմօր

Old Armenian

Etymology

Some researchers spell the word as Խոզմօր (Xozmōr) and explain it as խոզ (xoz, pig) + մօր (mōr, marsh), but the only extant manuscript has the spelling Խօզմօր (Xōzmōr), so Martirosyan proposes a derivation from խօզ (xōz) + մօր (mōr), thus meaning “mossy marsh” or the like. Compare also խոզմրատ (xozmrat).
