Etymology

A reduplicative formation of uncertain origin.[1] According to J̌ahukyan, perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *gʰēr-gʰērs-, from *gʰers- (disgust, horror), whence Old Armenian գարշիմ (garšim).[2]
