Some dictionaries, articles and textbooks claim without foundation that ճահուկ (čahuk) refers specifically to a group of foxes. A claim originally attributable to Gayayean.

Etymology

A borrowing, but the source is unknown. J̌ahukyan compares Old Armenian ջոկ (ǰok) and Arabic جَوْقَة (jawqa, group of people), both from the same Iranian source.
