Etymology

Malxaseancʿ assumes a reduplication of սուս (sus),[1] but probably wholly borrowed from Ottoman Turkish [script needed] (sus-pus) (e.g. in Evliya Çelebi), Turkish suspus (reduced to silence, silent and cowering), from صوص (sus), whence սուս (sus).
