Verb

اِسْتَغْرَقَ (istaḡraqa) X, non-past يَسْتَغْرِقُ‎ (yastaḡriqu)

  1. to absorb; to engross; to overpower
  2. to take, to take up; to occupy (time)
    أَحْيَانًا يَسْتَغْرِقُ الْمُحَادَثَةُ الْهَاتِفِيَّةُ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ سَاعَةٍ.
    ʾaḥyānan yastaḡriqu l-muḥādaṯatu l-hātifiyyatu ʾakṯaru min sāʿatin.
    Sometimes the phone conversation takes more than an hour.
