Etymology
From Arabic 'ī/ay إي]] /أ]] meaning "yes" which only comes after swearing as in "إي و ربي /إي و الله" + wa و meaning "and" + ه h a silent h sometimes added to the end of arabic words with a stop which omitted the original word 'allāh الله "god". (originally from ay wa allah shortened to aywa).
