Etymology
From Middle Persian 𐭧𐭥𐭠𐭡 (xvāb), from Proto-Iranian [Term?], from Proto-Indo-Iranian [Term?], ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *swep- (“to dream”).[1] Compare Kurdish xew, xewn, and Ancient Greek ὕπνος (húpnos, “sleep”), whence hypnosis.
