Etymology

Composed of شِبْه‎ (šibh, “quasi-”) +‎ جَزِيرَة‎ (jazīra, “island”) +‎ عَرَبِيَّة‎ (ʿarabiyya, “Arab, Arabian”). شِبْه جَزِيرَة‎ (šibh jazīra) by itself means "peninsula"; note, however, that عَرَبِيَّة‎ (ʿarabiyya, “Arabian”) modifies جَزِيرَة‎ (jazīra) rather than شِبْه‎ (šibh).

Declension
