Etymology
From Classical Syriac ܐܢܛܘܒܝܐ (anṭūbiyā, “endive, dandelion, chicory”), from Byzantine Greek ἔντυβον (éntubon) of uncertain origin; cognates with English endive and Late Latin intibus. Applied variously to the members of the tribe Cichorieae.
