Etymology
From Middle Persian [script needed] (kōδ). Related to Sanskrit कूट (kūṭa, “heap, multitude”), Romani kidao (“to heap”), Old Armenian loanword կոյտ (koyt, “heap, mass, pile”) and possibly Classical Syriac ܩܘܛܝ (qawṭī, “to heap”), also from Iranian.
