From Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀤𑀼𑀇𑀚𑁆𑀚 (duijja), from Sanskrit द्वितीय (dvitī́ya, “second”), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *dwitī́yas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dwitī́yas, from Proto-Indo-European *dwi-t(i)-yos, from *dwi- (“two, apart”). Doublet of दूजा (dūjā) and दूसरा (dūsrā).
