From Old Marathi धुळी (dhuḷī) or धूळि (dhūḷi), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀥𑀽𑀮𑀻 (dhūlī), from Sanskrit धूलि (dhūli). Cognate to Konkani धूळि.
