यूष
Sanskrit
Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Aryan *yuHṣás, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *yuHšás, from Proto-Indo-European *yuHs-ós, from *yuHs- (“soup, broth”). Cognate with Latin iūs (“gravy, broth, sauce”), Russian уха (uxa, “fish soup”), Proto-Germanic *justaz (“cheese”) (whence Old Norse ostr). Compare also Finnish juusto, a Germanic borrowing.
