Etymology
Borrowed from Angkorian Old Khmer kralā homa, kralā homma (literally “court of sacrifices; sacrificial ground”), from kralā (“court; courtyard; ground; etc”) + homa, homma (“sacrifice; sacrificial ceremony”), referring to the precinct of a fire worship ceremony held before marching to war. Cognate with Modern Khmer ក្រឡាហោម (krɑɑlaahaom).
