From Pali bhujaṅga (“snake”) or Sanskrit भुजङ्ग (bhujaṅga, idem); probably via Old Khmer būjuṅa (“snake; serpent”). Cognate with Modern Khmer ភុជង្គ (phucngkɔɔ).
