From Old Median *Aragv(ī), from Proto-Iranian *Ragvī- (“swift”), feminine of *ragu- (“swift”); compare Sanskrit रघ्वी (raghvī́), feminine of रघु (raghú, “fleet, rapid”). Related to Old Armenian արագ (arag).
