From Old Georgian უშნოო (ušnoo), from Proto-Kartvelian *šw-en- and *šw-n-. Of the same origin as შვენება (šveneba), მშვენიერი (mšvenieri) etc.

On the other hand, Ačaṙean derives from Old Armenian շնորհ (šnorh), but according to Klimov and Vogt that is impossible.
