Ἀριάδνη
Ancient Greek
Etymology
According to scholars in classical Greece, from ἀρι- (ari-, “intensive prefix”) + Cretan dialectal ἀδνός (adnós, “holy”).[1] Beekes, however, suggests a Pre-Greek Minoan origin.[2]
