From 盛り (sakari), the ren'yōkei or conjunctive form of the verb 盛る (sakaru, "to be in prime condition"), itself sharing a root with the word 栄える (sakaeru, "to thrive, boom"), ultimately deriving from 咲く (saku, "to bloom").
