고슴도치
Korean

Etymology
First attested in the Gugeupbang eonhae (救急方諺解 / 구급방언해), 1466, as Middle Korean 고솜돝 (Yale: kwoswomtolth). Appears to be a compound of 고솜 and 돝. The second part is related to 돼지 (dwaeji, “pig”), but the origin of the first part is unclear, perhaps related to the second syllable of 송곳 (songgot, “gimlet”).
