Likely borrowed from Sumerian π¨ππ (urbarra, literally βoutside dog, wild predatorβ). Compare Arabic Ψ¨ΩΨ¨ΩΨ±β (babr, βtigerβ) and Classical Syriac άάάͺάβ (bbrΚΎ, βtigerβ), not understood in their direct origin.
