Etymology

Borrowed from French -ade, as in promenade; adopted by other languages, as seen in English blockade.

Suffix

-ad-

  1. (verbal suffix) -adi notable duration of an action
    lerni (to learn) + -ad-lernadi (to study)
  2. (nominal suffix with verbal root) -ado noun of an action
    danci (to dance) + -adodancado (dancing)
  3. (nominal suffix with nominal root) -ado simple action of the verb without connotation of duration
    krono (a crown) + -ad-kronado (a coronation)
