- A standard paper size defined by ISO 216 to have approximate dimensions 1189 × 841 mm (1189.21 × 840.90 mm) and thus an area of 1 square metre. This is the base size in a series of paper sizes where the ratio of width to length equals square root of 2; the width of each size is equal to the length of next smaller size.
