Atlas Mountains

Arabic جبال الأطلس‎ (jibāl al-ʾaṭlas), from Berber ⵉⴷⵓⵔⴰⵔ ⵏ ⵡⴰⵟⵍⴰⵙ (idurar n waṭlas), both ultimately from the Ἄτλας (Átlas), stemming from the belief that the mountain range is actually the body of the Titan Atlas after being turned to stone.

Atlas Mountains

1. A mountain range located in northwest Africa, occupying portions of Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
