Etymology
Arabic جبال الأطلس (jibāl al-ʾaṭlas), from Berber ⵉⴷⵓⵔⴰⵔ ⵏ ⵡⴰⵟⵍⴰⵙ (idurar n waṭlas), both ultimately from the Ἄτλας (Átlas), stemming from the belief that the mountain range is actually the body of the Titan Atlas after being turned to stone.
