Usage notes
- Dschungel is one of a small number of German nouns which can or historically could have all three genders; see the appendix.
- The masculine gender is by far the most common. The neuter gender and particularly the feminine gender are rare but also considered standard by most grammarians.
- The choice of gender determines the noun's inflection: with masculine and neuter genders, the genitive and plural forms are (des) Dschungels; (die) Dschungel. With the feminine gender they are (der) Dschungel; (die) Dschungeln.
