From Middle High German iuter, Old High German ūtar. Cognate with Middle Low German jeder, West Frisian iader, Old Norse júgr, Old English ūder, Dutch uijer, English udder, Latin ūber, Ancient Greek οὔθαρ (oúthar), Sanskrit ūdhar.[1]
