Etymology
From the Latin name of the town Forum Iulii (“Julius' forum”) (now the Cividale del Friuli), from forum + Iūliī, genitive of Iūlius (“Julius”). Compare also the name of the French / Occitan town Fréjus, also from a locality named Forum Iulii.
