Etymology
Literally, "back-to-back": hwííshgháán (“one’s back”) + -jįʼ (“against it”). Compare Western Apache Ghąązhįʼ (“October, lying side-by-side”).

Ghąąjįʼ is considered the first month of the Navajo calendar, and back-to-back refers to the interface between the end of the preceding year and the beginning of the new one.
