Kleie

German

Etymology

From Middle High German klīwe, klīe, from Old High German klīwa, klīa, klīga. The further origin is unclear. It might stem from Proto-Indo-European *gley- (to smear, to glue) but this is difficult due to semantic reasons.[1]

Noun

Kleie f (genitive Kleie, plural Kleien)

  1. bran
    Synonym: Grüsch (Switzerland)
