Etymology
The origin is uncertain.[1][2] Has been compared to Northern Kurdish poz (“nose”), Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (pōz /pwc/), Persian پوز (pūz, “snout, muzzle”).[3] Note also Old Armenian գրտապոզ (grtapoz, “a kind of Indian animal”).
