From Proto-Indo-European *h₃rinéHti (move), present of *h₃reiH-. Etymologically identical with Illyrian 'ῥίνος άχλύς' (Illyrian *rhinos (fog, mist)) and Messapic ῥινός (fog, mist, cloud).[1]
