Proto-Finnic

Etymology

Possibly akin to Mansi [script needed] (nē̮r, pine nut), Khanty нахәр (naxər, pine nut) (suggesting a root *nëkrɜ), but this is uncertain due to the semantic difference, and the atypical sound structure: most Finnic words with consonant clusters such as *-kr-, *-kl-, *-pr-, *-tr- are loanwords (cf. e.g. *atra, *neekla, *sepra, *takla).

Noun

*nakris

  1. turnip
