Etymology

From Proto-Balto-Slavic *blandīˀtei, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰlondʰ-éye-ti, from *bʰlendʰ- (to blend, mix up). Cognate with Latvian bluôdîtiês (to roam, be ashamed), blàndîtiês (to roam), Lithuanian blandýtis (to clear up, become cloudy, recover, roam), Proto-Germanic *blandaną.
