Etymology
From Proto-Balto-Slavic *blandīˀtei, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰlondʰ-éye-ti, from *bʰlendʰ- (“to blend, mix up”). Cognate with Latvian bluôdîtiês (“to roam, be ashamed”), blàndîtiês (“to roam”), Lithuanian blandýtis (“to clear up, become cloudy, recover, roam”), Proto-Germanic *blandaną.
