From Proto-Balto-Slavic *preida, from Proto-Indo-European *prey-dʰh₁-o-m, *prey-dh₃-o-m?. Cognate with Latvian priẽds (“bonus”), Lithuanian priẽdas (“addition, bonus, supplement”).
