Etymology
From Proto-Balto-Slavic *śolˀnáˀ, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱolH-n-eh₂. Cognate with Latvian sal̂na (“light frost”), Lithuanian šalnà (“light frost”), Proto-Germanic *hehlǭ.
