Etymology
Within the disputed Indo-Uralic theory, it has been connected with the Indo-European noun *h₁nómn̥. According to V. Napolskikh, similar words meaning "name" can be found in other languages of northern Eurasia, i.e. Yukaghir and Chukchi.
