Etymology
After Rev. John Harvey Vachell (1798-1839), chaplain to the British East India Company in Macao from 1825-1836 and a plant collector in China.[1]
Usage notes
Prior to the 17th International Botanical Conference, 2005, species in Vachellia were placed in the related genus Acacia.[2]
