Etymology
From ad- + Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰleh₂d-. Cognate with Ancient Greek κέχλᾱδα (kékhlāda, “I exulted”) (Pindar) and Sanskrit ह्रादते (hrādate, “make a noise”).
