Etymology
A formation from Proto-Albanian *apo-t-is, based on Proto-Indo-European *apo- 'away, off', whith the labial plosive followed by back vowel yielding -f- (cf.avull, afër), and -is-, as well as -os-, yielding zero in unstressed position. Cognate to Germanic *aftiz 'again, in Old English eftesoons (“again, soon”), English after. Related to afër.
