aikštis

Lithuanian

Etymology

Most probably a derivative of áiškus (clear, bright) + -tis, although attempts have been made to derive it from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eig-; compare Sanskrit एजति (éjati, move, stir), Ancient Greek αἰγίς (aigís, rushing storm, hurricane).[1]
