Enlarged with -zë ~ ëz, from Proto-Albanian *aunā, from Proto-Indo-European *Heu- ‘to weave’ (compare Dutch gewaad ‘clothing’, Lithuanian austi ‘to weave’). For sense development, compare Proto-Indo-European *wobʰseh₂ ‘wasp’ (cf. English wasp), from *webʰ- ‘to weave’ (cf. English web).
