ardhje
Albanian
Etymology
ardh + -je. Compare Hittite 𒄩𒅈𒁺 (ḫardu-, “offspring, descendant”), Old Church Slavonic родити (roditi, “give birth, originate”), and perhaps (Old) Armenian որդի (ordi, “child, offspring”). Possibly from the same root of hardhi, with a sense development similar to Proto-Germanic *stamniz meaning both ‘stem, tree stalk’ and ‘tribe, lineage’.
