Contraction of bittida, itself borrowed from Low German bi tide ("by time"). Compare English betides (“early in the day”), Dutch bijtijds (“well in advance”), West Frisian betiid (“early in the day”).
Usage notes
Only in the expression i morgon bitti (= early tomorrow; tomorrow morning).
