Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *bōlna, identical with Thracian βόλινθος id.[1]. Alternatively from Byzantine Greek βούβαλος (boúbalos).[2]; compare also Latin būbalus, both from Ancient Greek βούβαλος (boúbalos, “buffalo”).
