coffee break (plural coffee breaks)

A rest period during the business day (usually of about 10 or 15 minutes). So named because it is an opportunity to get coffee.

Usage notes

In regions of the United States there may be legislation mandating a coffee break (specified as a break of at leat certain length after a certain length of time working).
