From Old Occitan conselh, from Latin cōnsilium (compare French conseil, Spanish consejo). Possibly confused with or influenced by Latin concilium (council) (whence Catalan concili was borrowed), although cōnsilium also had the sense of "council", "consultative assembly" or "advisory body"[1].
