Etymology

Borrowed from Japanese ダンデレ (dandere), a portmanteau of 黙り (danmari, keeping silent), from verb 黙る (damaru, to be silent), and デレデレ (dere-dere, to become lovey-dovey, infatuated, lovestruck).[1]
