Etymology
Borrowed from Japanese ダンデレ (dandere), a portmanteau of 黙り (danmari, “keeping silent”), from verb 黙る (damaru, “to be silent”), and デレデレ (dere-dere, “to become lovey-dovey, infatuated, lovestruck”).[1]
